A Holistic Guide to Transforming Your Relationship With Money
If you’re experiencing money stress right now, you’re not alone.
Money can trigger some of the deepest emotions we carry.
Worry.
Shame.
Fear about the future.
The constant mental calculations about whether there will be enough.
For many people, thinking about money creates tension in the body and a tightening in the chest.
Bills arrive.
Unexpected expenses pop up.
Income fluctuates.
And suddenly money becomes the thing we avoid, resent, or feel powerless around.
But what if the real issue isn’t money itself?
What if the real issue is our relationship with money?
Because money stress rarely comes from numbers alone.
It comes from the story we hold about money.
And stories can change.
What Money Really Is
Money is simply a resource.
Just like food, water, shelter, or air, money is a resource that helps us live and participate in the world.
In modern society, money functions as the main way we exchange value.
It helps us pay for:
- Housing
- Food
- Healthcare
- Education
- Travel
- Experiences that enrich our lives
Yet despite being a neutral resource, money often carries a huge emotional charge.
Money can represent:
- Security
- Freedom
- Power
- Worth
- Survival
Because of this, our sense of self-worth often becomes entangled with our financial reality.
When money feels scarce, many people assume something must be wrong with them (or that money itself is a problem).
But in truth, what we’re usually experiencing is a misaligned relationship with money, not a personal failure.
The Hidden Cause of Money Stress
Most financial stress is not actually about income.
It’s about beliefs.
We all grow up absorbing ideas about money.
Ideas like:
- ‘There’s never enough’
- ‘Money is hard to come by’ or ‘Money doesn’t grow on trees’
- ‘Rich people are greedy’
- ‘I’m not good with money’
- ‘I don’t deserve to live an abundant life’
Over time these beliefs become our money story.
And this story quietly shapes how money flows in and out of our life.
It influences:
- How we earn money
- How we spend money
- How comfortable we feel receiving money
- How confident we feel charging for our services
- The financial decisions we make throughout our life.
If your money story is rooted in fear, guilt, or scarcity, it can create a kind of invisible resistance that blocks financial flow.
Not because money is punishing you — but because your beliefs shape how you interact with it.
Money Is a Relationship
One of the most powerful ways to reduce money stress is to recognise something simple:
You already have a relationship with money.
Whether you like it or not.
You might avoid money.
You might resent money.
You might fear money.
You might feel ashamed around money.
But that’s still a relationship.
And just like any relationship, the quality of it determines what you experience.
Imagine trying to build a friendship with someone you constantly criticise, ignore, or push away.
They probably wouldn’t want to spend much time with you.
Money works in a similar way.
When we judge money, avoid looking at it, or feel unworthy of it, we create distance between ourselves and financial support.
Healing money stress begins by shifting that relationship.
Don’t Hate Money — Date Money
One of the teachings I share in my work is simple, but powerful:
Money is not something we do or don’t have — it’s something we’re in relationship with.
Instead of treating money like an enemy, we begin treating it like a relationship we’re curious about.
A relationship we’re willing to understand.
In the Money and Me course, participants go on seven ‘dates’ with money.
These dates gently guide you to:
- Uncover your money beliefs
- Release fear and shame around finances
- Build a healthier money mindset
- Reconnect with your sense of worth and abundance
Instead of money feeling stressful or overwhelming, it becomes something we engage with consciously.
We learn to:
- Look at our finances with honesty and compassion
- Understand where money comes from and where it goes
- Align our spending with what truly matters
And slowly, the emotional charge around money begins to dissolve.
No longer does money feel heavy.
Instead, money starts to feel supportive, there for us, and thoroughly committed to showing up for us.
You can read more about the Money and Me course and enrol here.
The core purpose of this fun and playful program, is to get you into a healthy relationship with money, so you no longer stress about money.
For when you feel abundant and supported from within, that becomes your physical reality.
What Happens When You Change Your Money Story
When people heal their relationship with money, something remarkable happens.
They don’t just experience financial change.
They experience self-worth change.
Because money mirrors how we value ourselves.
As people develop a healthier relationship with money they often notice:
- More confidence around earning and charging
- Greater ease receiving money
- More clarity about their goals and priorities
- Unexpected opportunities and income streams appearing
Inner shifts create outer results.
And sometimes those shifts happen very quickly.
What Participants Experience in the Money and Me Course
‘I just wanted to tell you how much Money and Me has changed my life. I was on date 4 yesterday and it blew my mind; enjoyed every second of it. I avoid taking accountability so I had to face my fears. I never ever had a relationship with money, I didn’t hate it, but I knew I wanted more money in my life but I just thought I wasn’t worth it, so I didn’t even take money seriously.
But ever since Money and Me, money flows to me from anywhere and everywhere. After date 2 with money I got paid $400 for a job I did in December that I wasn’t even expecting. Now people just love to pay me.. how awesome is that…? I run a yoga studio in my garage where I teach one-on-ones. I have been booked left right and centre and this is all from Money and Me. Thank you for sharing this with us… it really has taught me a lot about money and myself generally.’
– Nana, Botswana
‘I started the Money and Me course. I listened to the intro and did the meditation and scheduled a date for… tonight! I wanted Money to pick me up at 7 pm so I knew that around 6 I would want to clean my room, get cute, light some incense… I already was feeling so good – like I should totally do this once a week, just for me – make my space and myself cute as if a date were coming over—I hadn’t done that in AGES. I put together a cute outfit, etc. etc.
But here’s the fun story. Before doing ANY of that, when I was just thinking about doing that, I got a text from an old friend who works for a luxury Italian linen company and gets all this shopping spree money as bonuses each year that he has to use or lose. We’re talking $8K sheets and cashmere throws (Beyonce is a customer!) Anyway, he texts me and says he wants to gift me $1000 to get whatever I want from their website. So Bam – just like that, a luxury shopping spree becomes part of my money date. WHA??????’

A Deeper Healing Pathway
For some people, healing their relationship with money through education and self-reflection is enough.
For others, the money story is connected to deeper emotional patterns — worthiness, safety, identity, or long-held beliefs formed early in life.
In these cases, deeper personal work can be transformational.
Here’s what clients have experienced through my One-on-One sessions:
‘Money Money Money… I thought you could only obtain it in one form in one way that was of course until I met Tamra… She released my limiting beliefs at 1.15pm on a Thursday and feeling light and happy and free, I skipped back to work only to see that an email had come in at 1.20pm that same afternoon offering my husband and myself a free 5 star all expenses paid cruise to Noumea in exchange for some of our expertise in all things nostalgic.. DJ, Dancing and Vintage Styling Techniques & demonstrations…. Spooky some would say, coincidence other might say but I choose to believe in the power of what Tamra teaches and how she is able to guide us to be the best of who we are and to achieve the best of what we need and want in our lives…’
– Christine Keepence, Owner of the Lindy Charm School, Queensland, Australia.
‘From the day I started with Tamra, energies shifted, the world turned and the sun warmed my face after an immense darkness in my life. Working on goals and replacing negativity with positive light. I am now surrounded with self-love and have an inner confidence, combined with positive learnings has lead me to have a new lease on life. My livelihood has changed dramatically with my monetary earnings now tripled and my search for a nurturing and loving relationship was achieved and I am now living with my beautiful partner. I am living life to the full. Thank you for your guidance.’

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Why does money cause so much stress?
Money is closely tied to survival, security and self-worth. When financial pressure arises, it can activate fear and scarcity beliefs that have been built over years. This is where money mindset healing, which I teach in the Money and Me course, is so effective, as it rewires how you think about money. And when you start to feel positive about money, money worries and stress, cease to exist.
Q2: Can money mindset work actually improve finances?
Yes, absolutely! When people shift their beliefs and relationship with money, they make clearer decisions, notice new opportunities and feel more confident earning and receiving money. As a result, they attract in more money. Once your money mindset shifts, so does your material wealth, usually quite quickly.
Q3: What if I feel ashamed about my finances?
Shame around money is extremely common. The most powerful step is bringing compassionate awareness to your money story rather than avoiding it. This is why in the Money and Me program we date money. Just as we would date another person to get to know them and come into a healthy relationship with them, we do the same with money. This is one of most enjoyable ways to melt away money shame.
Q4: What if I’ve struggled with money for years?
Long-standing patterns can absolutely change. When you uncover the beliefs and emotional patterns driving those struggles, new possibilities begin to emerge. The important things to understand, is that you need to look at your beliefs around money, and when you do, those old patterns shift instantly.
A Final Note of Hope
If money has felt stressful, overwhelming, or out of reach for a long time, it can be easy to believe that things will always be this way.
But your current experience with money is not permanent.
Just as our relationship with people can grow, heal, and transform over time, so too can our relationship with money.
When you begin to look honestly and compassionately at your money story — the beliefs, fears, and expectations that have shaped how you relate to money — something powerful begins to shift.
Awareness creates choice.
Choice creates change.
Little by little, the money stress begins to soften.
You begin to see new possibilities.
You begin to trust yourself more.
You begin to feel worthy of receiving support and abundance.
And from that place, life can start to open in surprising and beautiful ways.
A healthier relationship with money isn’t about becoming obsessed with wealth.
It’s about feeling supported in the world.
It’s about having the resources to care for yourself, share your gifts, and live the life that feels meaningful to you.
And that journey can begin right where you are today with the Money and Me course.
One small step at a time.
