Naked Therapy is the creation of Getting Naked Pty Ltd founder, Tamra Mercieca. It is designed to help a person develop their relationship with self, based on the theory that ‘self-love and self-belief are the key contributors to happiness and overall success’. Tamra has a certificate IV in both Life and Business Coaching and Training and Assessment as well as being trained and certified in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Time-Line Therapy and Therapeutic Hypnosis. She has been a recognized member of the American Board of Time-Line Therapy, NLP and Hypnosis. She is an accredited UI Mentor also having studied HeartMath, Positive Psychology, Kundalini Yoga, Conscious Pregnancy Yoga, Taoism, Shamanism, Tantra on top of completing a Wellness Leader Certificate. It was through this accumulation of knowledge, practical application, deep inquiry and ongoing personal insights, that Tamra developed what she now coins Naked Therapy.

I’ve been in therapy for years, how will Naked Therapy be any different?
Most psychologists these days use CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) which is a short-term intervention method that is usually combined with medication. This form of therapy only works with the conscious mind and therefore can only manage problems not cure them, hence why one study even found that you needed to spend at least 300 hours with a psychologist to get a minor breakthrough (if you got one at all).
Most therapists these days do not take a holistic approach, hence why they are limited in the change they can facilitate. Psychology generally only deals only with the conscious mind. You end up chasing your tail as it is too cognitive and analytical to take into consideration our physical, emotional or energetic needs. Energy healing techniques such as reiki are great for helping the cells to restore themselves to original health, but if you have not investigated the thoughts that triggered the illness in the first place, then the ailment is likely to return.
In order to create lasting change you need to address the mental, emotional, physical and energetic or spiritual self. Naked Therapy takes this holistic approach to ensure that the client is left feeling love for themselves from the inside out. When you learn how to connect in with your True Self – tuning into your heart’s intelligence – you’re able to trust yourself on a much deeper level, knowing that all the answers are within. This is the key to developing your relationship with self.
Naked Therapy deals direct with the subconscious mind – which is responsible for 90% of our thoughts, actions and behaviours – therefore allowing the therapist to get straight to the root cause of the problem. Once you’re able to identify the trigger (or limiting belief) the client is guided to gather learnings from this event, essentially cancelling out the negative emotion and turning into a positive that empowers the client to move forward with great insight.
