Many people hesitate on setting a goal for themselves. What if it’s not the right one? What if it’s coming from a place of fear or doubt or Ego? What if I don’t even know what I really want?
Let me say this: Your goal doesn’t need to be perfect. It simply needs to be powerful enough to get you moving.
On today’s episode of I Love Me the Podcast, we’re exploring how setting any goal – no matter where it comes from – is better than staying still. Because the moment you set it, the path unfolds, the growth begins and your inner voice gets louder. Let’s explore how it all works…
Welcome to Season 4 of I Love Me the Podcast.
Today, we’re talking about goals.
Yep—those shiny little dreams we write down, whisper to the universe, or scribble into notebooks with bright pink highlighters.
But more importantly, we’re going to explore what makes goals truly powerful, and why even the most ego-driven goals can open the door to expansion.
Let’s start by understanding this:
Setting a goal instantly changes your perspective.
It flips a switch in your brain.
Suddenly, you’re no longer standing still—you’re moving.
Your eyes shift forward.
Your energy lifts.
You start looking for possibilities instead of problems.
In other words…
Goals = momentum.
And momentum is gets us on the road to creating change in our life.
But here’s something that’s often overlooked when it comes to goal-setting:
Most of the goals we first set?
They’re limited.
For we can only imagine a goal as big as our beliefs will allow.
Yes, when we set a goal, we’re setting it through the lens of our current beliefs.
And let’s be real—those beliefs?
They’ve been shaped by years of conditioning, fears, doubts, and self-protective habits.
So no matter how bold that goal might feel, it’s still being created through ‘filters’.
And that’s totally okay.
Because even if a goal starts in the realm of limitation or Ego—maybe you want to make more money, lose some weight, or finally start that business—it gets you moving.
And once you start moving, you start evolving.
Your beliefs get shaken up and start to loosen.
You expand.
You shift.
And that’s where the magic begins.
So, yes—set the goal.
Even if it feels a little selfish.
Even if you’re not sure it’s the ‘highest’ goal.
Because the moment you set it, you create an opening.
Now—here’s the deeper truth…
Your True Self, that wise inner being of yours, knows exactly what you need.
Sometimes that’s what you think you want, and sometimes it’s something completely different—something that doesn’t show up on your vision board, but is exactly what you need to become the most authentic version of yourself.
Maybe your goal was to run a marathon, but an injury teaches you patience and rest.
Maybe your goal was fluency in another language, but the real gift is confidence and connection. Maybe your goal was a certain body shape, but what you find is radical self-love.
The point is:
The goal gets you started, but the journey is what transforms you.
In the Remarkable Relationships course I run, we begin with a goal—a tangible, practical, slightly scary goal.
It gives us something to work towards.
Something to lean into.
But more than that, the goal acts like a ‘mirror’.
It reflects back the beliefs that have been quietly limiting our experience of life.
You want to earn more?
Great—what do you believe about your worth?
You want to find love?
Amazing—what do you believe about what you truely deserve?
These questions naturally rise to the surface when we aim for something bigger.
That’s the power of goal-setting.
It reveals.
And when we start clearing the beliefs that no longer serve us – as I teach in the Remarkable Relationships course – suddenly the goal shifts too, often into something even better, even more aligned with the truth of who you are.
So here’s a little mindset shift for you:
Set your goal… and then say to yourself:
‘This… or something better.’
Because guess what?
The ‘better’ may look nothing like you imagined, but it will serve your growth in ways your current self can’t even begin to fathom.
Let’s also remember that Earth School—as I lovingly call it—is about learning, expanding, and stripping away what no longer serves us.
It’s not about ticking off boxes.
You’re here to experience, to grow, to deepen into love.
So if your goal hasn’t come true yet, that’s okay.
Maybe you’re not ready.
Maybe there’s still something you’re learning.
Or maybe, just maybe, there’s something even more magnificent around the corner.
But here’s the catch…
If you don’t set a goal, you’ll stay in default mode.
You’ll keep repeating the same patterns, doing the same things, hoping something changes.
A goal interrupts that loop.
It says, “Hey! Let’s try a new direction.”
It helps you filter.
Clarify.
Prioritise.
Think of your goal like a flashlight.
It doesn’t show you the whole map, but it lights up the next few steps.
And that’s all you really need right now—a few steps forward.
Enough steps forward to get you on the journey.
To get you moving in a new direction.
The other thing I really want to highlight here… is that…
Your goal doesn’t need to be permanent.
You can tweak it, reshape it, or dream up something totally different.
That’s not failure—that’s growth.
That’s listening.
That’s adapting and evolving.
You don’t need to be 100% sure of what you want.
You just need to start moving toward something.
Because once you take those first few steps, more will come into your line of sight.
Now, some of you might be resisting setting a goal because it feels like a commitment you can’t make.
What if I change my mind?
What if I outgrow the goal?
What if I’m aiming too small?
Or too big?
Here’s the thing:
You will grow.
You will evolve.
And your goal will too.
But without a starting point, there’s no journey.
If the goal feels scary—good.
That means it’s stretching you.
If it feels exciting—yes!
That’s your heart speaking.
The perfect goal is one that feels both exciting and scary.
Just enough to pull you forward, and just enough to shake things up.
The other thing I love about goals, is that when you commit to going on a journey with a goal, even if it’s just a small one, it starts to build your self-belief and self-worth.
You achieve one small goal, and you feel more confident that you can set a bit bigger goal.
The more goals you achieve, the more your confidence grows in what you can achieve.
And that is a huge part of the self-love journey.
Learning to trust that you’ve got this.
And you can create a more easeful, joyful life for yourself.
So today I invite you to set a goal.
It can be an any life area.
Just choose something you can get behind right now.
Knowing that you can tweak it as you grow towards it – or away from it.
But start with a goal that feels both scary and exciting for now.
One or two sentences is all you need.
Write it down.
Pop it somewhere you can see it.
And read it every day.
When I work one-on-one with a client, I get them to spend 5 minutes each day simply visualising their goal.
Feeling what it would feel like to have that goal right now.
Because feeling as if you already have something, is a key part of manifesting.
We’ll explore visualisation is more depth next week.
But for now, set that goal.
Let this episode be your little nudge to get you moving.
Moving towards something new, and more expansive.
Trusting that, this simple act of setting a goal, is how you open your heart, so you can start to get to know yourself on a new level.
For that’s what goal setting does.
It helps you dig deep into what you truely want in life, as opposed to sitting steady in where you are, so that you start to see beyond the limitations of the mind, and tap into the magic of your heart.
So you can start to listen more to that inner voice of wisdom, that is always wanting to guide you into a more loving, expansive way of being and doing life.
If you set your goal, write it down, feel into it every day, you’ll start to notice how the universe, God, Shakti or whatever it is you believe in, starts to support you, in bringing that goal – or something better – into your reality.
Now I’ll be honest…
When we set a goal, and we start to feel into it, gently moving towards it, our beliefs – our limitations – naturally start to rise to the surface.
All the things we believe that tell us why we can’t have this goal, they will come up for healing.
And this is a good thing.
Because until this point, those beliefs would have been sitting beneath the surface dictating and guiding your life, in a more limited manner.
I talk more about how beliefs work in Episode 2: Programmed For Love, and Episode 50: When The Stories We Tell Ourself Reach Their Expiry Date.
And so, we set our goal, and then we start to become aware of what beliefs have been holding us back, not just in our goal area, but in all areas of life.
This is the awareness, the information we need, so we can do the necessary inner healing work to clear those beliefs.
Because if we don’t know they’re there, we can’t clear them, right.
So that’s why goals are so powerful.
They get us moving in a new direction AND they show us our blocks, so that we know what inner healing work we need to do.
And this is why I created the Remarkable Relationships course; to teach you how to set really inspiring and powerful goals, and then give you the exact formula you need to clear the beliefs that arise, take the action you need, and create an environment that allows you to see your goal to fruition.
Because it’s very common for people to set a goal, and then give up.
This happens because they don’t know the pathway required to bring that reality to life.
Because they don’t have the tools to clear the beliefs and seek out the inner guidance to help them stay on course.
This is the whole point of the Remarkable Relationships course.
To give you the exact formula you need to do the inner healing, the inner shifting, the inner loving you need to have a healthy relationship with every part of your life.
If there’s one thing you take away from this episode, I hope it’s this:
You were not born to live on autopilot.
You were born to design your life.
To discover the truth of who you are.
To fall in love with the journey, not just the destination.
So set your goal.
And then let your True Self take the lead.
And if you want help in knowing how to do this, doors are now open to the Remarkable Relationships course.
This is an intensive 3-month program, that will give you all you need to create a life of your choosing, in a really fun and inspiring way.
