Who’s writing the script for your life?
Can you honestly say you’re the star, the director, the producer and the scriptwriter?
And if not…. Why?
As some of you know I’m in talks to have my own story, Getting Naked – The Dating Game, turned into a major motion movie.
But that got me thinking…. I may be scripting my on life, but why isn’t everyone else doing the same?
People stay in unhappy relationships, soul-destroying workplaces; some even experiencing ill health.
Why?
When we all have the tools to change that script.
Take me for example.
Severe clinical depression and a risk to myself – yep that was me ten years ago.
Yet here I am now writing a story that tickles more than my taste buds; working on my third novel, running my own company, in love with a beautiful man and taking my second book to screen!
How did I go from nothing to all this?
As I reflect back, I realise it was all about making the conscious decision to script my own life.
That’s right.
Get crystal clear on what I wanted, and then take the actions necessary to bring those dreams to life; to take the movie in my mind and put it on the set full of colourful actors.
So let me ask: What do you think of your life so far?
Can you honestly say you are 100% successful in all areas of your life – career, finances, health, relationships, emotions and spirituality?
Like any film there are parts you’ll like and others you won’t.
Do you find others are dictating to you what the script should be?
Do you feel life generally is writing the script for you?
A movie is written against a backdrop of external events, but the writer creates the plot.
It’s the same in real life.
You may not have control over every event that affects your life, but you do have control over how you respond to them.
Therefore, no matter what is going on around you, you have the power to write your own script.
Like the actors in the movie, we only have one performance.
Sure, you might get to re-do a couple of takes, but then that’s it – off to the production house.
How well you played that role will affect your future prospects.
Until you focus on the person within you instead of the world around you, you’ll continue putting pen to paper at the hand of someone else.
When you decide to take responsibility for the end product, when you spend some time in the director’s chair, all of a sudden you take control for how your life pans out.
No longer are you at the mercy of the next producer, you are creating a life full of colouful and enjoyable experiences.
Sounds nice, doesn’t it?
If you’re struggling to get started on your life script, then let me help you do the storyboard so you know what actions you need to take.
