Are your emotions making you sick?

Emotions are ‘energy in motion’.

When we store negative emotions in the body – for example, anger, fear, guilt or shame – they sicken the body.

Even scientific research now shows that suppressed emotions lead to illness and disease.

When we experience a situation that triggers a negative emotion in us, if we don’t fully feel it in that moment, if we try to hide it or we refuse to let it go, it gets locked in the physical body.

That energy begins to move, right down into our physical structures.

And the problem with this, is that negative emotions are toxic.

When they get trapped in our cells, they destabilise the integrity of those cells, making them more vulnerable to disease.

Neuroscientist Candice Pert has studied this in depth and found that our emotions, and what we do with them, are directly related to the state of our health.

‘The chemicals that are running our body and our brain are the same chemicals that are involved in emotion. And that says to me that we’d better pay more attention to emotions with respect to health.’

Imagine for a moment you’re treading water.

All’s fine, until you realise that there is a big rock that is tied to your ankle, and it starts to pull you down beneath the surface of the water.

If that rock stays attached, sooner or later you won’t be able to hold yourself above the water, and you’ll drown.

This is what unresolved negative emotion does to us.

It pulls us down in challenging times.

It wears us out.

It weakens us – physically, as much as mentally.

Now the problem is not in the emotion itself.

We are human, we are meant to feel.

The problem is in not expressing the emotion as it bubbles to the surface.

When we suppress emotions, instead of feeling them in the moment, we upset the system, weakening the immune system, leaving us wide open to attack.

If we take a look at anger…

Holding anger in the body has been directly related to heart attacks, high cholesterol, obesity, gum and mouth issues.

Sadness on the other hand, is linked to weakened immune system, depression and PMS.

Breast and uterus problems, cancer and heart disease are often triggered off from stored hurt, while excessive stress, phobias and urinary problems are side-effects of holding onto too much fear.

The people who are the most unwell are the people who are the most unhappy within themselves.

That doesn’t mean they have no money or are struggling – even though many are – it doesn’t mean that their life is all that bad!

What it means, is that they don’t feel good about themselves within the life they live.

Being angry, discontented or hurt for what may or may not have been done to you, only hurts one person; YOU.

If you want to be well, you need to be willing to let go of the grievances you hold around yourself and others.

The cost of refusing to let go of old hurts and suppressed emotions is ill health; for many people, life threatening illnesses.

Are you ready and willing to release old emotions?

Then give this exercise a go.

Sit down with a pen and paper and ask yourself these questions:

  • What am I holding onto?
  • Who am I blaming?
  • What am I angry / guilty / frustrated at?
  • What do I need to know to let go of that emotion?
  • What am I willing to let go of NOW?

To get well you need to be willing to get emotionally naked with yourself.

That doesn’t mean having to replay past events in a therapy session.

In fact, this kind of talking-therapy approach rarely shifts the emotion.

It requires being willing and ready to let go of the past, so you can move forward minus the negative emotions.

Without that willingness, then no amount of therapy will help.

That is why when I work with clients, I will only work with those who are ready and willing to let go of the past.

Without this desire, the healing is minimal.

It is not healthy to be angry all the time, tired all the time, crazy all the time.

If you are any of the things, look within.

Go on a treasure hunt for happiness.

You can’t change what has happened to you, but you can change how you feel about it.

The body begins to heal when you release the emotions from the cells.

As Sigmund Freud believed: ‘The body is the unconscious mind storing repressed emotion in our cells and tissues and organs.’

Ultimately, to stay sick, or to continue living a life that fails to tick all the boxes, is a choice.

A choice to let let money, time or fear stop you from taking the steps necessary to create the positive changes that would facilitate healing.

If you want change, you can have it.

But you need to choose it.

The body wants to be well.

It’s built to be well.

The body is a machine at self-healing.

But if we refuse to let go of old emotions, we block the body’s ability to self-heal.

The past is over and done with.

All you have is the now, and the future now.

If you want a different life to what has come before, then you need to do something differently.

You need to be willing to let go of the past, which I know, isn’t always that easy.

Where do you start?

How do you put to rest those grievances that you’ve carried around on your back all these years?

I’d love to teach you how.

Having experienced my fair share of sickness, including many life threatening illnesses, I was able to develop a method for releasing emotion from the body, so that the body could heal itself.

And this is what I share in my One-on-One Intensive.

You can read more about the program here.

Now before I say anymore about the program, I do need to let you know that due to personal commitments later this year, I have two spots available to work with me now, and won’t be taking any new clients until March 2018.

So if you’re ready and willing to release emotion then please email me before Sunday 2nd April.

In my one-on-one sessions I help people remove the emotions of anger, sadness, hurt, fear and guilt.

Now this doesn’t mean you won’t experience these feelings ever again – we’re human we’re meant to feel!

What it does mean, is that any unresolved emotions from the past, will be brought to the surface to be healed, so that it can no longer hide out in the body and make it sick.

This process doesn’t involve re-living the initial hurt; it is far easier and less stressful that than.

In fact, my clients really enjoy the sessions and always say how much lighter they feel afterwards.

Are these sessions for you?

The best way to know, is to ask yourself: What would my life be like if I no longer harboured that emotion towards …?

What would my life be like if I was no longer sick?

Or depressed?

Life is very different when it’s not weighed down by negative emotions.

  1. These are very detailed and refreshing knowledge to everyone like me who is experiencing negative emotions the past months. I didn’t even know that keeping negative emotions do have side effects, not until I’ve read this. This has been super helpful.
